Retailers and suppliers converged in San Antonio, Texas, May 1-3 for the annual ABC Spring Conference & Trade Show, which hosted seminars and networking opportunities in addition to an intimate trade show experience. “I really enjoyed the role this conference plays. It is much smaller than the fall show and less overwhelming and allows me to connect with retailers in a deeper way,” says Delia Elbaum, CEO Finn + Emma, a repeat exhibitor at the ABC Conference.
Elbaum’s favorite feature was the Retailer & Vendor Open Forum, which facilitated an open discussion between retailers and vendors about critical industry issues, such as competing with online sales; Internet giants like Amazon; and social media strategy. “I feel everyone walked away with a better understanding of business needs and how to better support one another,” she says.
Of course, the social media was the big buzz among retailers as they exchanged ideas on how to take advantage of the various social platforms. Some vendors now offer to supply retailers with content for their social media pages. “Everyone is beginning to understand how vital social and digital marketing is for brands and retailers, and it’s important for us to work together to support one another,” she says.
